Md. Shahidul Islam joined NDI in January
2007 as a Program Officer (Study Circle Program). He is responsible
to monitor and supervise the program activities in the field
level, coordination with the partner NGOs, research and develop
study circle discussion guidebook and other materials. He
is also responsible to plan, design and facilitate workshop,
training and discussion. Providing technical assistance to
the partner NGOs on program operation and development, he
also assists the Project Manager in the overall management
of the Study Circle Program.
Prior to NDI, Shahidul worked for Swiss Red Cross mandated
Development Association for Self-reliance, Communication and
Health (DASCOH) in the area of local government, good governance
and sustainable water and sanitation service. He also worked
in the area of land rights for landless people while he worked
for Samata, a right based national NGO. He started his career
in 2002 with Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS), also a
right based national NGO, where he worked for women rights
and gender just society. Shahidul has a master's degree in
English literature from Calcutta University, India.
